The U.S. has revoked visas and imposed restrictions on certain Mexican nationals linked to “knowingly facilitating illegal immigration,” the State Department announced on Wednesday.

The sanctions target executives and senior officials of a Mexico-based transport company who allegedly organised travel services primarily for individuals attempting to enter the U.S. illegally.

Investigations revealed that these arrangements included transporting people, including children, from Caribbean and other locations to Central American transit points, where many were later intercepted trying to cross into the U.S.

The State Department said the visa revocations are intended to prevent these individuals from entering the U.S., stressing, “The United States will not tolerate any attempts to undermine our national security or immigration laws.”

Officials added that those profiting from illegal immigration will face consequences, and the U.S. will continue to target smuggling networks to protect its borders.
