Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Kyrgyzstan’s capital, Bishkek, from 25 to 27 November, the Kyrgyz presidency announced on Monday.
The visit, at the invitation of President Sadyr Japarov, aims to strengthen strategic partnership and allied relations between the two countries.
During the visit, Putin and Japarov will discuss bilateral cooperation, as well as interactions within the Eurasian Economic Union, Commonwealth of Independent States, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov confirmed that the Russian delegation will be “highly representative,” and an informal one-on-one meeting between the two leaders is planned.
The Kyrgyz statement said discussions will focus on trade and economic ties, investment and industrial cooperation, military-technical and cultural-humanitarian collaboration, and regional security issues. A joint statement and several bilateral documents are expected to be signed to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors.
Putin’s visit coincides with the CSTO summit in Bishkek on 27 November, which brings together Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan. The summit is expected to adopt a declaration on regional security issues and consider the appointment of a new CSTO secretary general for the next three years.
