Turkish military cargo plane crash in Georgia
All 20 military personnel aboard a Turkish Air Force C-130 Hercules cargo plane were killed when the aircraft crashed near the Azerbaijan-Georgia border on 11 November. The C-130E plane had taken off from Ganja International Airport in Azerbaijan at 10:19 UTC and was en route back to Türkiye when it crashed in Georgia's Sighnaghi municipality.
Video footage aired on news outlets appeared to show the aircraft spiralling down and leaving a trail of white smoke. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed deep sadness and offered condolences to the families of those killed. Defense Minister Yasar Guler confirmed the death toll on Wednesday, and an investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
UN chief condemns 'acts of violence and terrorism' following suicide bombing in Pakistan
United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has condemned the terrorist suicide attack which took place in Islamabad on Tuesday, killing at least a dozen people. In a statement broadcast by Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Gueterres called for a full investigation into the incident.
It happened outside a court building in Pakistan's capital, injuring more than 27 people with some in critical condition, a hospital source reported.
The Pakistani Taliban group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a breakaway faction of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility.
Trump announces plan to lower tariffs on India
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday, that the United States is "pretty close" to reaching a "fair trade deal" with India and indicated plans to reduce tariffs on Indian goods. Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of new U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, Trump said that the current high tariffs on India—which stand at 50% including a 25% penalty for purchasing Russian oil—would be brought down "at some point" as India has substantially reduced its Russian oil purchases.

‘Mellon Blue’ diamond fetches $26.6 million at Geneva auction

Named after the late American arts patron Rachel “Bunny” Mellon, the diamond had been part of her private collection for decades. Previously, it had sold at auction in 2014 for $32.6 million, shortly after Mellon’s death, making it one of the most expensive coloured diamonds ever sold.
