China has expressed readiness to work with Japan to foster a stable and constructive relationship, state broadcaster China Central Television (CCTV) reported following a high-level meeting between the two countries’ leaders.

During their bilateral talks, Chinese President Xi Jinping noted that relations between Beijing and Tokyo face both opportunities and challenges. He called on both sides to adhere to a path of peaceful coexistence and friendly cooperation, highlighting the importance of building a “strategic, mutually beneficial relationship” that advances shared interests and win-win outcomes.

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, for her part, said China remains an important neighbour for Japan, adding that the two nations share major responsibilities for maintaining regional and global peace and prosperity. She underscored Japan’s willingness to sustain close dialogue and exchanges with China at both high and working levels, according to CCTV.

The meeting underscored renewed efforts by Asia’s two largest economies to stabilise ties and manage differences through diplomacy and cooperation.
