Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced his intention to run in the upcoming general elections, expressing confidence that he will be re-elected as prime minister.

In an interview with Channel 14, Netanyahu said in response to a question about his candidacy and political plans, “Yes, I believe I will win, with the support of the people.”

Israeli state television Kan reported that Netanyahu plans to move the general elections, originally scheduled for November 2026, forward to June.

Under Israeli law, the government can dissolve the parliament and call early elections on the prime minister’s recommendation, but the decision must also be approved by the president.
