A small plane crashed near Hicks Airfield in Tarrant County, Texas, on Sunday afternoon, hitting several parked trucks and trailers and sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky, authorities said.
Emergency crews from the Fort Worth Fire Department and Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on North Saginaw Boulevard after reports of the crash. Firefighters quickly contained the flames as heavy smoke rose from the wreckage, officials said.
Authorities confirmed that the aircraft struck multiple 18-wheelers and trailers near the private airfield, located about 16 miles northwest of downtown Fort Worth. It was not immediately clear how many people were on board or whether there were any casualties.
Footage from local broadcaster CBS Texas showed fire crews battling the blaze as dark smoke filled the air. The sheriff’s office confirmed the incident but did not release additional details.
Hicks Airfield, a privately owned airport just off U.S. Route 287 Business, was closed following the crash. Police blocked traffic in both directions near the site as emergency responders worked to secure the area.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by local and federal authorities.
