2. Munich airport begins slow reopening after late-night drone sightings

Munich airport said on Saturday it was gradually resuming flights from 7 a.m. (0500 GMT), with delays expected through the day, hours after both runways were closed for the second time in less than 24 hours due to a drone sighting. 

3. Japan ruling party picks Sanae Takaichi as new leader

Sanae Takaichi is likely to be Japan's first female prime minister after winning the race on Saturday to lead the ruling Liberal Democratic Party.

The former internal affairs minister, a conservative nationalist with an expansionary agenda, is expected to replace Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba since the LDP is the largest in parliament.

4. Armenian archbishop sentenced to two years over alleged coup plot

A prominent Armenian cleric has been sentenced to two years in prison after being found guilty of calling for the overthrow of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s government.

Archbishop Mikael Ajapahian, Primate of the Shirak Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, was sentenced by the Yerevan City First Instance Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction. The prosecution had requested a sentence of two years and six months.

5. Two dead, five injured in shooting in Nice, France

A shooting in Nice, southeastern France, left two people dead and five injured on Friday, authorities said.

The Alpes-Maritimes prefecture reported on X that the incident took place in the Moulins district, with two victims seriously wounded and three sustaining minor injuries.
