Nine countries are set to join BRICS as partner states in January 2025, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Belarus, Bolivia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Malaysia, Thailand, Uganda, and Uzbekistan will officially become partners from 1st January, as confirmed by TV BRICS. Ushakov noted these nations have expressed their willingness to gain this status, while responses are awaited from four additional countries.

While partner countries can make proposals, they will not participate in document approvals or voting. The BRICS states endorsed this partnership framework and welcomed broader interest in the Kazan Declaration of the XVI BRICS Summit, which outlined the list of invited states.
