One person has been killed and several others injured after a train collided with a vehicle and derailed in southern Denmark on Friday, police said.
According to the Southern Jutland police, the accident occurred when the train struck a vehicle at a road crossing, causing one of its carriages to tear off and overturn. Out of the 95 passengers on board, one person died while several were injured, with two flown to hospital by helicopter.
Images broadcast by Danish TV2 showed a carriage lying on its side next to the tracks. The state-owned rail operator DSB said it suspended all services between Kliplev and Tinglev, near Denmark’s border with Germany, as emergency teams worked at the site.
National rail system operator Banedanmark confirmed details of the collision on X, while authorities said investigations into the cause are under way.
