The UN Agency reported on the unemployment in Gaza, resulting in hardship to make a living.
Since the Israel-Gaza war started, Gaza unemployment has dropped down to 80%, with the economy at the peak of collapsing. The report was provided by the International Labour Organization (ILO) on Thursday.
Ever since the war started one year ago, the economy dropped by 85%, leaving 2.3 million Gaza civilians into poverty, UN agency reported.
The ILO while speaking in regard of Gaza and the West Bank stated, the effect of the conflict caused "unprecedented and wide-ranging devastation on the labour market and the wider economy across the Occupied Palestinian Territory".
Unemployment in the West Bank rated 34.9% between October 2023 until September 2024, resulting the economy reaching to 21.7% for the last 12 months.
In the West Bank, the unemployment rate averaged 34.9% between October 2023 and the end of September 2024, while its economy has contracted by 21.7% compared with the previous 12 months, the ILO said.
Geneva-based organization stated, before the conflict, Gaza unemployment rate was 45.3% and the West Bank was 14%.
