President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia’s massive overnight assault on Ukraine, involving more than 570 drones and 40 missiles, showed Moscow was avoiding peace talks and undermining U.S.-led diplomatic efforts.
Speaking in his nightly address, Zelenskyy said the overnight strikes, killed one person and injured 22 others across multiple regions.
A U.S.-owned electronics factory in Ukraine’s Zakarpattia region was among the targets, which Zelenskyy described as a “telling strike” against American investments.
“We believe it was a deliberate strike precisely on U.S. property here in Ukraine,” he said, suggesting Moscow had no genuine interest in peace efforts.
The attacks also caused fatalities and damage in Lviv and Dnipropetrovsk. However Russia claimed it had hit Ukrainian energy and military facilities and seized a village in the east.
Ukraine, in turn, reported strikes on Russian oil and fuel sites.
The escalation comes as U.S. President Donald Trump pushes for a bilateral meeting between Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
While Moscow insists Putin is ready to meet, Zelenskyy argued Russia is stalling.
“They don’t want to end the war. They carry on with massive strikes,” he said, urging Washington to respond firmly if Moscow rejects peace.
