U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Patriot missile systems for Ukraine are already being shipped from Germany under a NATO deal, with full reimbursement to the U.S. from European allies.

Under the deal, the United States will be fully reimbursed either through NATO or directly from European Union member states, stressing that the U.S. won’t incur additional costs and will be fully refunded.

He highlighted the importance of a potential peace deal to save thousands of lives on both sides of the conflict.

“If we can make a (peace) deal, that would be great. We’re saving 5,000 or 6,000 soldiers a week -- they’re Russian and Ukrainian soldiers, not American soldiers,” he said. “It’s a shame -- last week they say 7,100 soldiers, both Russian and Ukrainian, were killed.”

The agreement was announced following Trump’s meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on Monday (14 July), who confirmed that Europe will cover the costs of supplying Ukraine with the necessary weapons.
