The Trump administration announced on Tuesday it is ending the deployment of about 2,000 National Guard troops in Los Angeles, according to Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell.

The deployment initially involved roughly 4,000 National Guard members and 700 Marines sent to protect federal buildings and support immigration enforcement during protests against immigration raids.

The operation began in early June and was planned to last 60 days.

It remains unclear how long the remaining forces will stay in the area as the demobilization of some troops begins.
