Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held high-level talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) in Jeddah on Tuesday, marking the first official visit by a senior Iranian official to the kingdom since Iran’s 12-day war with Israel last month.
According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the meetings were “fruitful” and included discussions on regional stability and the path forward following the recent U.S.-brokered ceasefire that ended the intense conflict between Iran and Israel.
The Saudi state news agency SPA said the two sides “reviewed bilateral relations and discussed the latest regional developments.” MBS reiterated Saudi Arabia’s support for diplomacy and expressed hope that the ceasefire “would help build conditions for broader regional security.”
Araghchi also thanked Riyadh for its supportive position during the war.
The Iranian minister separately met with Saudi Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman and Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between the two regional powers following their diplomatic reconciliation last year.
