Manchester City remain hopeful that Erling Haaland will recover in time for the season’s final stretch despite his left ankle injury. The 24-year-old, who has netted 30 goals in 40 games, is set to miss upcoming matches but is expected to return in time for the Club World Cup.
Manchester City confirmed that Haaland injured his left ankle during the match against Bournemouth and underwent initial tests in Manchester on Monday. Further examinations will determine the severity of the injury.
Despite his absence from upcoming games against Leicester City and Manchester United, the club expects him to return later in the season, including for the Club World Cup in the United States.
With nine Premier League matches remaining, City are fifth in the table, just one point behind Chelsea and one ahead of Newcastle, as they fight for a Champions League spot. Haaland, now in his third season at City, has consistently scored at least 30 goals in all competitions each year.
