Azerbaijan, the host of the 3rd CIS Games, will today stage competitions across four sports.
According to Azertag, the finals of the individual table tennis events will take place at the Gabala Olympic Complex, beginning at 10:00. Representing Azerbaijan, Onur Guluzade and Adil Ahmadzade will compete in the boys’ category, while Marziya Nurmatova will contest the girls’ final.
Three other disciplines will also see action today. Trap shooting will be held at the Gabala Shooting Club, featuring mixed team, women’s and men’s individual competitions. Swimming will take place at the Ganja Sports Palace, with races across freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and medley events. Traditional chovqan matches are scheduled at the Sheki City Stadium, where Azerbaijan’s national side will face Kyrgyzstan in Group A, while Uzbekistan will meet Kazakhstan in Group B.
Later in the day, the opening ceremony of the Games will be held at the Ganja City Stadium, starting at 19:00.
In total, 1,624 athletes from 13 countries are competing at the 3rd CIS Games, which will conclude on 8 October.
