Hungary has temporarily relocated its embassy from Tehran to Baku, citing rising security risks, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó announced in a video statement posted on social media.
Szijjártó said that six Hungarian citizens had already departed Iran via Azerbaijan, prompting him to instruct all remaining diplomatic personnel and their families to evacuate.
“In total, 15 people—our diplomats and their family members—have now been relocated to Azerbaijan,” he said. “Until the situation improves, the embassy will continue its operations from Baku.”
The foreign minister emphasized that the move was necessary to protect the lives of staff and their families, including children, amid escalating regional tensions.
