Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev met with Türkiye’s Chief Ombudsman Mehmet Akarca in Baku on June 17 to discuss expanding bilateral legal cooperation and advancing human rights protection.

Welcoming the Turkish delegation, Kamran Aliyev emphasized the strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, rooted in the principle of “one nation, two states” laid down by National Leader Heydar Aliyev. He credited the unwavering political will and mutual trust between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for elevating bilateral ties to a globally exceptional level.

Aliyev underlined that safeguarding human rights and freedoms remains a top state priority in Azerbaijan, supported by comprehensive state programs and strategic frameworks that enable systematic action.

Mehmet Akarca thanked Azerbaijani officials for the warm hospitality and highlighted that consistent meetings in Baku, Nakhchivan, Ankara, and Istanbul—as well as collaboration at international platforms—have significantly deepened bilateral ties.

In recognition of his efforts to enhance legal cooperation and his contributions to human rights advocacy, Kamran Aliyev awarded Mehmet Akarca the 100th Anniversary Jubilee Medal of the Azerbaijani Prosecution Service.
