Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (National Assembly) Sahiba Gafarova met with Chairman of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Nurdinjon Ismoilov, on the sidelines of the 14th plenary session of the Turkic Parliamentary Assembly (TURKPA) held in Astana, Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the current high level of relations between the two friendly nations. It was noted that Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan enjoy successful cooperation across multiple fields.
The crucial role of the two countries’ presidents in advancing bilateral ties was emphasized, with reference to high-level visits and close contacts that have significantly contributed to strengthening strategic cooperation.
The speakers underlined that expanding inter-parliamentary relations plays an important role in enhancing bilateral collaboration. Gafarova highlighted the strong ties between the Milli Majlis and both chambers of the Uzbek Parliament.
Recalling her own visit to Uzbekistan and reciprocal visits by Uzbek parliamentary leaders to Azerbaijan, Gafarova noted the positive momentum in parliamentary exchanges. She stressed that lawmakers from both countries are actively cooperating not only bilaterally but also within international parliamentary organizations.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
