In a historic moment for Azerbaijani sport, the national Chovken team has been crowned European champions after a dominant performance at the European Chovken Championship, held in Poland from June 5 to 7.
Organized by the International Chovken Federation, the tournament featured teams from six countries: Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Hungary, Malta, Poland, and the UK.
Azerbaijan opened their campaign with a 3-0 win against Türkiye on June 5. In the semifinals, they continued their strong showing with a 4-0 victory over Hungary, securing a spot in the final. There, they faced Malta and claimed the title with a commanding 6-2 win.
The victory marks a significant milestone for Chovken in Azerbaijan, breathing new life into the ancient equestrian sport and placing the country firmly at the forefront of the international scene.
Following the success of the European event, the International Chovken Federation announced plans for upcoming continental tournaments. The Asian Championship is scheduled for early September in Uzbekistan, followed by the African Championship in Nigeria later that month, and the South American Championship in Buenos Aires in November.
