Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian discussed bilateral cooperation and regional connectivity in a phone call on June 4, ahead of Eid al-Adha.
During the conversation, President Pezeshkian extended Eid al-Adha greetings to the people of Azerbaijan, while President Aliyev reciprocated with similar wishes to the Iranian people. Both leaders reflected positively on Pezeshkian’s recent visit to Azerbaijan, highlighting the progress made in strengthening ties.
They noted the implementation of agreements from the visit, including the resumption of Baku–Tabriz flights and an increase in Baku–Tehran routes, which are expected to enhance people-to-people connections. The presidents described current Azerbaijani-Iranian relations as entering a new phase and voiced confidence in the potential for further cooperation across multiple sectors. They also exchanged views on other shared interests.
