Azerbaijan's participation in Expo 2025 in Osaka is drawing praise from Japan, as top officials meet to explore broader cooperation in energy, reconstruction, and cultural exchange.
Anar Alakbarov, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and the country’s Commissioner General for Expo 2025, met with Akihisa Nagashima, Special Advisor to the Japanese Prime Minister, during an official visit to Japan. The two discussed growing bilateral ties in energy, including oil, gas, and renewables, with Nagashima commending Azerbaijan's dynamic presence at Expo 2025.
Alakbarov highlighted Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s commitment to strengthening ties with Japan and invited Japanese companies to engage in reconstruction projects in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories. Both sides emphasized the role of cultural events in enhancing relations, such as Azerbaijan National Days planned in Tokyo and Osaka. The Azerbaijani pavilion was recognized as one of the top 10 most visited at the global event.
