Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said he will push for constitutional changes if the Constitutional Court blocks the peace deal with Baku. “If the court finds it unlawful, I will initiate amendments. Peace must not be missed,” he stated.
Speaking at the international forum “Yerevan Dialogue-2025,” Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that there will be no new war between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Pashinyan emphasized that Armenia remains committed to its peace agenda and will take all necessary steps to achieve peace. The Prime Minister said,
“It is clear to me that peace will be established between Armenia and Azerbaijan.”
He also noted that Azerbaijan’s territorial claims are not reflected in the Armenian Constitution. Pashinyan assured that if the Constitutional Court does not approve the peace agreement proposed by Baku, he will personally initiate constitutional amendments to enable the peace deal.
“We must submit the agreement to the Constitutional Court... If the Court decides that the agreement does not comply with Armenian laws, I will initiate amendments to the Constitution because I believe that the opportunity to achieve peace must not be missed. This is my position,” he stated.
Pashinyan proposed that Azerbaijan sign a peace treaty and simultaneously call on the OSCE to dissolve the Minsk Group structures.
The Prime Minister also addressed Baku’s narrative about “Western Azerbaijan,” stating that “Western Azerbaijan” cannot exist outside the western part of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
