Azerbaijani and Turkmen carpet exhibition opens in Tbilisi celebrating cultural heritage

An exhibition of Azerbaijani and Turkmen carpets and handicrafts has opened in Tbilisi, celebrating the rich cultural heritage and centuries-old weaving traditions of both nations.

The Akhundov Art Gallery at the Mirza Fatali Akhundzade Museum of Azerbaijani Culture in Tbilisi is hosting a week-long exhibition featuring carpets and handicrafts from Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. The event is organized by the embassies of both countries in Georgia, with support from the museum. Visitors can explore Azerbaijani carpets from regions such as Karabakh, Guba, Shirvan, and Borchali, alongside over 20 Turkmen carpets, textiles, jewelry, and paintings.

During the opening, Dovletmyrat Seyitmammedov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Georgia, and Kamal Khalilov, Counselor of the Azerbaijani Embassy, emphasized the exhibition’s role in highlighting the historical and cultural significance of carpet weaving and the importance of preserving these traditional crafts.
