Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili is set to meet with Pope Leo XIV on Monday at the Vatican, the president announced earlier today.
The Georgian delegation, led by President Kavelashvili, attended the inauguration ceremony of the new Pope the day before.
“Our relationship with the Vatican is very important. We had very productive ties with the previous Pope, and I hope that with the new Pope we will have the opportunity to deepen our relations even further,” Kavelashvili said.
The meeting will be held in a one-on-one format. Discussions are expected to focus on the strong existing ties between Georgia and the Holy See, as well as opportunities to expand cooperation in the future.
