The US Embassy in Georgia has cautioned American citizens about potential security threats at several major shopping malls in Tbilisi, though Georgian officials have refuted the claims as unfounded.
The US Embassy in Georgia has warned American nationals to avoid several shopping centres in Tbilisi due to concerns about possible explosions. The advisory listed East Point, Galleria Tbilisi, and Tbilisi Mall as locations of concern, citing guidance from the embassy’s Regional Security Office.
As a precaution, all embassy personnel have been instructed to avoid these areas until further notice.
In response, Georgia’s State Security Service (SSS) rejected the warning, labelling it a “false report.” The SSS also called on US diplomats to avoid making “uncoordinated statements” that could cause unnecessary alarm among the public.
The embassy has not provided further details on the nature of the threat, while Georgian authorities maintain there is no verified danger to public safety.
