In her statement to journalists at the opening of the XII Global Baku Forum, the President of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, expressed her gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and emphasized that the Forum is a great opportunity to take the first step toward solving global problems.
"I thank President Ilham Aliyev for creating this opportunity. The Forum serves as a platform where many global issues are discussed, and solutions are sought. I will also speak at a panel here and discuss issues related to the status of the UN," said the President of North Macedonia.
Siljanovska-Davkova highlighted some of the key issues being discussed, such as what the future holds and various global challenges like energy, competition, and partnership: "If processes continue like this, what kind of future awaits us? I have already raised many unanswered questions. But everything must start somewhere. Why? Because this year, we are celebrating the anniversary of the UN. The UN was created as an anti-colonial and peace project, yet we are now facing war. The European Union was also created as a peace project, but there is also war in Europe. So, this is the final bell. What will be the fate of the UN, the Council of Europe, and international courts in The Hague and Strasbourg? Right now, we need a little more idealism, because we are tired of realism."
President Siljanovska-Davkova also mentioned that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev had raised many open questions during the opening ceremony of the Forum and discussed double standards.
In her speech, Siljanovska-Davkova also expressed her appreciation for the warm hospitality she experienced during her official visit to Azerbaijan: "During my official visit to friendly Azerbaijan, I felt this warmth. I thank President Ilham Aliyev for the sincere hospitality."
