Türkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urged all countries to "take their hands off" Syria.
Türkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a speech on January 15, urged all countries to "take their hands off" Syria, emphasizing Türkiye’s ability to eliminate all terrorist organizations in the country, including the Kurdish YPG militia and Islamic State. "All countries should take their hands off Syria. Together with our Syrian brothers, we have the capacity and ability to crush all terrorist organizations in the country, including YPG and Islamic State, in a very short time," Erdogan stated.
Speaking to parliament, Erdogan identified the YPG as Syria's most significant problem and warned the group that it would face an "inevitable end" unless it disarmed. "Right now, the most serious problem in Syria is the YPG terror organization, which occupies nearly one-third of the country," he explained. "If the YPG, which seizes the natural resources of Syria, does not lay down its arms, it won't be able to escape the inevitable end."
Erdogan also addressed the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), stating that if the group ignores calls from its imprisoned leader Abdullah Ocalan to lay down its arms, Türkiye would pursue alternative measures to achieve a terror-free nation. "If the organization (PKK) turns a deaf ear to this call and affiliated groups fail to show the expected resolve, we will realize our goal of a terror-free Turkey through other methods," Erdogan warned.
His remarks underline Türkiye's strong stance against terrorism in the region and its commitment to combating threats from various militant groups.
