Azerbaijan is hosting high-level discussions with the Organization of Turkic States in Gabala, where officials are reviewing preparations for the upcoming summit and discussing ways to enhance cooperation on peace, regional connectivity, and sustainable development.
The gathering brings together senior representatives of the Organization of Turkic States and Azerbaijani officials to strengthen political dialogue, economic coordination, and cultural exchange among Turkic nations.
Headquartered in Istanbul, the Organization of Turkic States unites Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan as full members, with Hungary, Turkmenistan, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus holding observer status.
Established in 2009 and renamed in 2021, the OTS works to advance integration, connectivity, and shared progress across the Turkic world.
President Ilham Aliyev meets Secretary-General of OTS in Gabala
On October 6, President Ilham Aliyev welcomed Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States, in Gabala. During the conversation, the sides recalled their previous meetings and discussed the ongoing cooperation between Azerbaijan and the OTS.
The Secretary-General congratulated President Aliyev on the outcomes achieved in Washington, in the presence of U.S. President Donald Trump, regarding the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
President Aliyev expressed gratitude for the congratulations and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to advancing peace and cooperation within the Turkic world.
Omuraliev thanked Azerbaijan for its continued support in enhancing the international standing of the Organization and strengthening collaboration among member and observer states.
The discussion highlighted preparations for the 12th OTS Summit of Heads of State, to be held in Gabala under the theme “Regional Peace and Security,” which will address key issues on the Organization’s agenda.
President Aliyev expressed confidence that the summit would contribute significantly to promoting friendship, solidarity, and partnership among Turkic nations.

President Ilham Aliyev also received Binali Yıldırım, Chairman of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States, in Gabala.
The two discussed the strengthening of cooperation within the Turkic world and preparations for the upcoming summit.
President Aliyev recalled his previous meetings with Yıldırım and expressed appreciation for his contributions to promoting Turkic unity.
Yıldırım, in turn, thanked the Azerbaijani leader for his continued support of the OTS and reaffirmed the Council of Elders’ commitment to advancing collaboration among member states.
The meeting also underlined the close and growing partnership between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, reflecting the broader framework of strategic and fraternal ties shared by the two nations.
