An Armenian-born resident of Khankendi resisted arrest with a weapon, says MIA

On September 14, 2025, Karen Albertovich Avanesyan, an Armenian-born resident of Khankendi, born in 1967, went from his residence to a forest area near the city, where he had previously hidden an AK-47 assault rifle, four magazines filled with ammunition, and five hand grenades.

This was reported to AZERTAC by the Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It was stated that K. Avanesyan was arrested after being wounded by return fire.

One police officer was injured during the operation.

A criminal case has been opened in conjunction with the Prosecutor General’s Office and the State Security Service, and operational-investigative measures are ongoing.
