On Sunday (September 14), an Israeli airstrike targeted the Muhanna multi-storey building in Gaza City, with locals watching from a distance.
According to Palestinians, the building had been serving as a shelter for displaced families in Gaza. Israel stated that civilians were warned in advance and claimed the building was being used by Hamas.
The conflict began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas gunmen launched an attack on southern Israel, killing around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking 251 hostages into Gaza.
Gaza health authorities reported that at least 40 people were killed by Israeli fire on Sunday, including 28 in Gaza City.
Since the start of the offensive, more than 63,000 Palestinians have died, most of them civilians, with much of Gaza left in ruins, according to local health officials.
