Kobakhidze: EU conditions must be logical to be implemented

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said that Tbilisi will implement all of the European Union’s requirements only if they are “justified and logical.”

Speaking after the Foreign Ministry submitted a report to Brussels on 31 August, Kobakhidze noted that the European Commission had requested information related to the visa-free regime.

“We are ready to fulfil all reasonable demands, but it must be explained why they are necessary. Only then will we carry them out in full,” Kobakhidze stressed.

The EU granted Georgia candidate status in December 2023. Brussels has reiterated that progress on human rights and democratic reforms remains essential for the country’s path towards membership.
