Russia has approved legislation expanding the list of crimes that can be used as grounds for revoking naturalized citizenship. The law will not apply to residents of Crimea, Donbass, and Novorossiya who became Russian nationals following the accession of their regions to Russia.

The expanded list of crimes include: public calls for terrorist activities; the justification and promotion of terrorism; unlawful actions targeting Russia’s critical information infrastructure; cooperation with a foreign state against Russia’s security; assisting an enemy in activities deliberately aimed at undermining Russia’s security; public incitement to actions that threaten national security; the promotion or display of Nazi symbols or insignia; and aiding in the enforcement of decisions by international organizations of which Russia is not a member, or by foreign government agencies.

According to the Tass agency, individuals may lose their citizenship if found guilty of violent sexual crimes against minors especially those that result in serious bodily harm or death by negligence. These offenses include sexual relations with children aged between 12 and 14, recruiting minors into prostitution, creating and distributing child pornography, and forcing children to engage in sexual activities.
