Iran has praised Qatar’s diplomatic efforts in helping ease regional tensions following a spike in hostilities between Tehran and Washington.
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takhtravanchi expressed gratitude to Qatar on Tuesday for its "constructive role" in preventing further escalation in the Middle East. The remarks came during a phone conversation with Qatari Minister of State Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi.
The call followed Iran’s missile strikes on the U.S. Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, which Tehran described as retaliation for U.S. attacks on its nuclear facilities. Takhtravanchi emphasized Iran’s commitment to deepening ties with Qatar, highlighting shared goals of regional stability and cooperation.
"Iran is determined to continue and strengthen relations between the two countries based on good neighbourliness and supreme interests," he stated.
