Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he would condemn recent recognitions by some nations of a Palestinian state in his upcoming address at the United Nations General Assembly.

Speaking ahead of his flight to the U.S. where he is scheduled to address the General Assembly in New York on Friday, Netanyahu reiterated his rejection of any recognition of a Palestinian state.

"I will condemn those leaders who, instead of denouncing the murderers, rapists, and child burners, want to give them a state in the heart of the land of Israel. This will not happen," he said.

The Israeli prime minister also announced his trip would also include a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington.

Trump and Netanyahu have condemned the recognition of a Palestinian state by Western powers such as France and Britain over the last few days.

Israel has drawn global condemnation over its war in Gaza, which is nearing the two-year mark with no ceasefire in sight.
