Turkmenistan and Russia sign new Foreign Ministry Cooperation Program for 2025–2026

Turkmen and Russian foreign ministers met in Ashgabat on 25 June and signed a bilateral cooperation program for 2025–2026, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening political and economic ties.

During the meeting, the ministers discussed key areas of cooperation in politics, diplomacy, trade, economy, and culture. Both sides stressed the importance of continued dialogue at the highest level, calling it a cornerstone of the strategic Turkmen-Russian partnership.

Lavrov highlighted the significance of recent high-level visits, including President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s trip to Moscow for the 80th anniversary of the WWII Victory and National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s participation in the 2025 KazanForum.

The two ministers also reviewed the agenda for upcoming bilateral consultations and exchanged views on pressing regional and international issues. They praised their cooperation in multilateral formats, such as the UN, CIS, the Caspian Five, and the Central Asia–Russia dialogue.
