Uzbekistan and China have formalized a groundbreaking agreement to abolish visa requirements for their citizens, streamlining travel between the two nations.
The agreement was signed during a visit by Uzbekistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bakhtiyor Saidov, to China. Under the new terms, citizens of both countries will be able to travel visa-free for stays of up to 30 days.
The treaty will take effect once the respective domestic procedures in both nations are completed.
This development comes amid a surge in travel between the two countries. From January to October 2024, Uzbekistan welcomed 57,700 visitors from China, marking a significant 63.1% increase compared to the same period in 2023. This rise represents an additional 22,300 Chinese tourists.
The agreement is expected to further strengthen bilateral relations and promote cultural and economic exchanges between Uzbekistan and China.
