Astana just opened a new chapter for financial integration among Turkic states — President Tokayev chaired the first-ever meeting of Central Bank governors from member countries.
Under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the first meeting of the Central (National) Bank Governors Council of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Astana. Tokayev stressed the importance of deepening regional financial cooperation amid global economic shifts and emphasized the key role of central banks. Discussions included monetary policy, digital currencies, and the rise of cashless transactions. Kazakhstan, a pioneer in the region, has already introduced its digital tenge. Central bank leaders from all member countries, including Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, participated in the meeting.
