Kazakhstan's export-import logistics sector is booming, with freight traffic rising 16% and Kazakh carriers capturing a record 54% market share.
Notably, Kazakh carriers now hold a record 54% share of the market, up from 31% three years ago, according to the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan. This growth is partly attributed to the introduction of a new mechanism for distributing foreign permit blanks (FPBs) and the digitization of blank exchanges with China and Uzbekistan.
The Committee of Motor Transport and Transport Control has streamlined the FPB issuance process, reducing document processing time from two working days to just 40 minutes and issuance time from seven days to one. The new system allows travel under a specific permit within 30 days, instead of the previous 100-day limit. Importantly, the new rules remove restrictions based on prior transportation history or vehicle use, allowing any eligible carrier to obtain permits, fostering competition and reducing human bias in permit allocation.
