Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations reported today (28 July) that a fragment of a military helicopter, which vanished from radar during a scheduled flight on Friday, has been found in the Almaty region.
According to the Ministry of Defence, on the 25th of July, an EC-145 helicopter belonging to the Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan disappeared from radar in the Almaty region.
Preliminary reports indicate that three crew members were on board.

Satellite monitoring conducted by the operational headquarters at the Ministry of Emergency Situations identified a stain—presumably oil—on the surface of Lake Sorbulak in the Almaty region. A rescue team was immediately dispatched to the location, and search efforts continued throughout the night, the statement reads.
According to the Ministry’s report, aircraft fragments—believed to be from the missing helicopter—were found at the site.
Specialized equipment was deployed in the search and rescue operation, including echo sounders, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and underwater drones.
Approximately 200 personnel were involved, along with 40 units of equipment, 15 watercraft, four canine units, and two aircraft operated by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
