A Kazakh military helicopter carrying three crew members vanished from radar during a scheduled flight over the Almaty Region on Friday, according to the country's defence ministry.
Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Defence reported that the EC-145 military helicopter lost contact while on a planned flight over the Almaty Region on Friday. The helicopter was carrying three crew members when it vanished from radar.
Emergency response efforts were launched swiftly. According to the Ministry for Emergency Situations, more than 100 personnel and 15 units of equipment, including drones and aircraft, have been deployed. Two helicopters from Kazaviaspas, the ministry’s specialised rescue service, are also assisting in the operation.
"Search and rescue operations are currently underway," the defence ministry stated, adding that a special commission has been dispatched to the area to investigate the incident.
No details about weather conditions or the possible cause of the disappearance have been released. The defence ministry said updates would be shared once more information becomes available.
