U.S. President Donald Trump said Washington was holding “very friendly” talks with Tehran and suggested a possible peace deal could be in reach. Trump credited the U.S. military campaign for bringing Iran back to the negotiating table, but Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said there were no direct negotiations with the United States.
In his first meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as UK Prime Minister, Andy Burnham pledged continued backing for Ukraine in its war with Russia. Zelenskyy is the first foreign leader Burnham has hosted on UK soil since becoming British Prime Minister.
Romania has expelled a Russian diplomat over repeated drone incursions during attacks on neighbouring Ukraine. Moscow’s Ambassador to Romania was summoned and shown debris recovered on Romanian territory. Bucharest shot down three drones over the weekend.
