ABBA star Björn Ulvaeus is using AI to write a new musical and says it helps spark ideas.
At the first-ever SXSW London festival, ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus shared that he’s working on a new musical with help from artificial intelligence. He said AI feels like having another songwriter in the room and helps him come up with new ideas.
As the president of CISAC, an organization that protects songwriters' rights, he talked about a recent report saying artists might lose up to 25% of their income to AI by 2028. He believes governments must create fair rules to protect creative people.
He also revealed that he’s almost finished writing the next part of ABBA’s virtual concert, ABBA Voyage. The show, which started in 2022, has been so popular that it’s now extended until January 2026.
