The third installment of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise hits theatres next week, with anticipation running high. Shadow the Hedgehog, a fan-favourite character, makes his big-screen debut, teased in the previous film's post-credits. Voiced by Keanu Reeves, Shadow’s role is set to add fresh excitement to the story.
The film also sees the return of Idris Elba as Knuckles the Echidna, following his role in the Knuckles TV spinoff on Paramount+ earlier this year. The first trailer teased a fierce rivalry, with Shadow effortlessly defeating Knuckles in combat, igniting immediate tension between the two.
Speaking to ComicBook, Reeves and Elba expressed interest in a Knuckles and Shadow spinoff. Elba joked, “Shadow Knuckles sounds like a band,” while Reeves countered with, “No, Knuckles and Shadow.” Their enthusiasm for a team-up hints at the characters’ potential future beyond Sonic 3.
