Billionaire Elon Musk has vowed to form a new political party if Donald Trump’s massive spending bill is passed by Congress, slamming it as evidence of a “one-party country.”
Tech billionaire Elon Musk escalated his criticism of U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed "Big Beautiful Bill" on Tuesday, promising to create a new political party — the “America Party” — if the controversial legislation is approved by Congress.
Calling the bill's $5 trillion debt ceiling hike “insane,” Musk accused both major parties of failing the public. “We live in a one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!!” he wrote on X, urging the formation of a political alternative that “actually cares about the people.”
In follow-up posts, Musk criticised lawmakers who previously campaigned on fiscal responsibility but now back the bill, warning they would face primary defeats next year.
Musk’s comments signal a deepening rift with Trump. Once allies, the two have clashed publicly since Musk began opposing the bill in May. At the time, he polled his 220 million followers on X about starting a new party to represent the political “middle.”
He later supported naming it the 'America Party,' a nod to his America PAC — which spent nearly $240 million backing Trump and Republicans during the 2024 elections.
