Pezeshkian to Macron: Rights can’t be taken away by force

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Saturday that nations' rights under international law “cannot be taken away through war and threats,” during a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron.

According to state-run Press TV, Pezeshkian reaffirmed Iran’s readiness for dialogue and cooperation on its nuclear program, but stressed that the country would not accept demands to halt uranium enrichment.

“Iran is prepared for negotiations, but only on terms that respect international law,” he said. He also warned that Tehran’s response to Israeli military actions would be “even more forceful and resolute.”

Tensions have sharply escalated since June 13, when Israel launched strikes on Iranian military and nuclear sites. Iran responded with missile attacks. Israeli authorities say at least 25 people have been killed and hundreds wounded. Iran’s Health Ministry reports 430 deaths and more than 3,500 injuries from the Israeli assault.
