Australia has begun recovery efforts after devastating floods in the southeast killed five people and damaged over 10,000 properties, prompting nationwide support and emergency responses.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced that clean-up efforts were underway following deadly floods that left five people dead and caused severe damage to more than 10,000 properties in southeastern Australia.
The mid-north coast of New South Wales was among the hardest-hit regions, with towns submerged, homes destroyed, and livestock lost. The State Emergency Services (SES) said damage assessments were ongoing and conditions had begun to improve, though many residents remained in evacuation centers and dozens of flood rescues continued overnight.
Triggered by days of heavy rainfall, the floods submerged streets and isolated around 50,000 people at their peak.
