A phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump is being prepared, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told TASS on Saturday.
Trump had earlier announced on Truth Social that he would speak with Putin on May 19, with plans to discuss the war in Ukraine and trade issues. He also said he would follow up with calls to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO leaders.
This will be their first conversation since March 18.
The call comes shortly after peace talks in Istanbul, where Russia and Ukraine agreed on a 1,000-for-1,000 prisoner exchange and outlined detailed ceasefire proposals.
