EU approves 17th Russia sanctions, blacklisting almost 200 shadow‑fleet ships, 30 evasion firms and 75 defence figures, banning missile chemicals and arming Brussels to strike Kremlin hybrid and operations.
Speaking to the Kyiv Independent on condition of anonymity, a senior EU official said the bloc has approved its 17th sanctions package against Russia, adopted on 14 th of May.
The latest measures blacklist nearly 200 vessels from Moscow’s so‑called “shadow fleet,” add 30 companies accused of helping Russia evade previous sanctions, and apply 75 new listings to entities and individuals tied to the Russian military‑industrial sector.
In addition, the EU will prohibit exports of chemicals used in missile manufacture. “Beyond the standard sectoral and individual measures, we are moving to strike Russia wherever new threats emerge or sanction loopholes appear,” the official said.
