Israel targeted senior Hamas leader Mohammad Sinwar in an airstrike on a hospital in southern Gaza on Tuesday , according to a senior Israeli official and two sources familiar with the operation.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed it struck the European Hospital in Khan Younis, saying the attack was aimed at Hamas operatives using a command and control center located in underground infrastructure beneath the facility. However, the IDF did not publicly confirm Sinwar as the target.
Sinwar became the militant group’s de facto leader after his brother, Yahya Sinwar, was killed by Israeli forces in October.
